Weltecho

Today’s Weltecho Arts and Culture Centre is housed in a historic building on Annaberger Straße, which originally served as the publishing house for the "Chemnitzer Neueste Nachrichten". During the GDR era, the building was used as the headquarters of the Chamber of Technology, the central representative body for engineers, technicians, scientists and inventors in the GDR, before being converted in 2007 by Oskar e.V. into the socio-cultural meeting place it is today. The neon sign on the front still bears witness to its days as the Chamber of Technology.

Two associations – Oscar e.V. (café and exhibitions) and Ufer e.V. (club, studio, courtyard, cinema) – now organise a variety of events and activities for you. From pub quizzes and karaoke nights to readings, concerts and parties, there’s something for everyone.
